The latest update from sheer fashion's worldwide step-and-repeat takeover comes courtesy of Priyanka Chopra, who posed for pictures at the South Asian Excellence Pre-Oscars Celebration in a sheer white corset top and embellished mermaid skirt. She topped the lacy set with a voluminous feathered shrug equally voluminous hair. It's giving bridal. It's giving vintage lingerie. It's giving vintage bridal lingerie. 

According to her Instagram, Chopra's look was by Indian designer Falguni Shane Peacock, which is a very chic way to show off one's heritage.

Chopra kept the sheer look going from the cropped corset, which appears to be layered over a bedazzled bra, to the beaded skirt, down to her see-through heeled sandals. With all of this going on, she didn't need much jewelry, and wore only a simple pair of dangly earrings. 
The actor was joined on the carpet by her husband, Nick Jonas (perhaps you've heard of him), as well as Pakistani activist and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, who she first met back in 2017 in New York City. Yousafzai tweeted at the time, “Can't believe I met Priyanka Chopra!” Chopra responded in the comments, “Oh Malala no words will be enough...I can't believe I..met..U!! You're just a young girl with so much heart..and such achievements. so proud.”
“I'm so grateful that we've had the ability to not just return but do it in such an amazing capacity and be hosted by Paramount Pictures,” Chopra told Entertainment Tonight in an interview from the event. “I mean, this is iconic. And to be able to look around me, and see my peers and colleagues that have hustled and pounded the pavement for years, and to be able to have them receive a moment that's just theirs, makes me, like, cry.”
