A loyal family dog was abandoned by his owners after they moved away from their old home. Larry the Lab was found abandoned on the side of the road.

According to The Dodo, Larry was left by his family when they decided to move away. Since then, the eight-year-old Labrador had been living in a car park just across the street from his former home.

A delivery driver kept seeing Larry in the same position on his drive to work every day. When he noticed that the poor dog was looking hungry and was in need, he decided to help Larry by setting up an Instagram account.

"This account is dedicated to this poor old boy that lives on the outside of a warehouse on my delivery route. Every day I see him hungry and thirsty waiting for any truck driver with enough heart to give him something to eat or drink. It breaks my heart and I wish I could help him but my situation simply will not allow me to bring him home. I'm going to post pictures of him daily as he is until someone with the heart and position to give him a loving home comes along."


The first Instagram post gained popularity and was able to draw the attention of a foster based rescue in Los Angeles called Love Leo Rescue.

"As soon as we saw [the posts] we said, just get the dog to us, we’ll take care of the rest," Sasha Abelson of Love Leo Rescue told The Dodo.

When Larry was rescued, it was discovered that his health was declining. The rescuers took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Cushing's disease. According to Blue Cross, Cushing's disease can cause health issues such as weight gain, abdominal swelling, hair loss, and changes to the skin's appearance.

To give Larry another chance, the rescue helped him recover his health. Larry has been cared for by the people in Love Leo Rescue since his rescue.

In a recent post, the rescue shared that Larry had been kicked out of three foster homes due to his extreme separation anxiety. However, they still believe that Larry will be able to find a new family that will accept him wholeheartedly.

"He deserves better than that... he’s a kind and gentle dog who really deserves a forever home to call his own. Please consider adding him to your family. He has been through so much and wants to spend his golden years being loved and adored," Love Leo Rescue announced in a post.
